Hello, I’m Susan and I was born in the country bumpkin county of Somerset. Distant memories include climbing haystacks and tractor rides. I was brought up in Lincoln. I met Allan when I was 16 and his first words were a proposal of marriage. I promptly told him to “sod off”. But sooner than I could help it, he offered me a life of luxury and chocolate so I decided I would marry him a few years later.
At the age of 17 I left home and became an Ophthalmic nurse in Nottingham. I married Allan at nineteen, got merry Christmas 1983 and had Abbe - daughter number one, when I was twenty-four in September 1984. Our little bundle of joy wanted a little sister, so in April 1987 we gave her Aprille, daughter number two. I took my time to be a full time mum and brought up two lovely young ladies. My mid-life crisis led me to university where I took a midwifery degree. I'm now practising as a midwife in the community in Peterborough.
